Brisbane Basket Brigade Wishing Tree Program 2021

Brisbane Basket Brigade Wishing Tree Program 2021

The manner of giving is worth more than the gift!

Since 1995, throughout the Christmas season, the Basket Brigade of the Magic Moments Foundation have worked with grassroot organisations to anonymously deliver food, toys, gifts, festive cheer and hope to those who need it most!  The Brisbane Basket Brigade is part of a not-for-profit national charity run entirely by volunteers through the Magic Moments Foundation of Australia.

The concept of Basket Brigades exist all around the world however each brigade is run independently of the other.   We are a non-religious, non-political organisation, bringing together like-minded people who make a difference to others’ lives.

We are proud to say that in Brisbane we support over 70 local grassroot charities who nominate our recipients and that all donations, gifts and funds raised by the Brisbane Basket Brigade are returned back to our very own local Brisbane community.

The Brisbane Basket Brigade is all about giving back at Christmas.  It’s about volunteers helping those who have fallen on hard times or those who might need to be reminded that someone cares.  It’s about making sure that Christmas is full of love and the spirit of giving for everyone.

Our Committee of volunteers deliberately seek out recipients, via our grassroot charities, who might otherwise fall through the cracks and not seek help – children, women, families, the elderly, the hungry, refugees and the homeless.

We have many different ways that you can support BBB as a corporate or group supporter.  Whether you’re a small office of just a couple of people,  a group of kind, passionate individuals, a community group wanting to run your own Christmas gifting program or a large company/retail chain/gym/factory that wants to collaborate with your clients and customers , we have a program that is sure to fit.  Be sure to check out our comprehensive Brisbane Basket Brigade Ultimate Guide on how you can get involved.

This event is for our Corporates and/or groups wanting to sign up specifically for our 2021 Wishing Tree Program.

Our Christmas Wishing Tree and Book Drives are one of the main ways that we collect gifts to be delivered with our baskets.  They are incredibly important to BBB as without donations, there could not possibly be gift baskets!

With every basket we deliver BBB also provide a gift for each and every member of the family, including the family cat or dog.   In 2019 and 2020 alone we wrapped, sorted and delivered over 28,000 gifts to our recipients throughout the greater Brisbane community. We can’t do it alone, we need your help!

Upon signup you’ll be able to nominate your own targets for each nominated age group so we can make sure that none of our recipients are missed.  Each ticket purchased is for 5 separate gifts in your nominated category.

Each category has a limited number of tickets and we remind you to be realistic in your targets.  Whilst noble to set ambitious targets, BBB purchase approximately 50% of the gift targets each year and use their annual fundraising and donations to purchase last minute gifts for the shortfalls in any categories to ensure that nobody misses out.  Whilst it’s understandable that commitments or circumstances change, the more notice we have of any shortfalls the better planning we can do to ensure that each recipient’s gift is purchased with thought and compassion rather than last minute.  If for some reason you realise that you won't be able to meet your ticket targets please let us know as soon as possible so we can amend your order and place the tickets back into the listings to be reallocated.

In your welcome email following registration you’ll be provided with a link to our RESOURCES LIBRARY that contains some useful tip sheets and template emails that you can use to launch and close your programs with your participants.

Delivery/Collection of your donations

There are 3 separate options for the delivery of your donations.  The options are as follows:

  1. Delivery by you on 30 November (Tuesday) between 10am and 4pm to Easts Leagues Club, Coorparoo
  2. Collection by a volunteer of BBB of your corporate/group donations.  Someone will contact you in late November to finalise arrangements. (See below)
  3. Delivery by you to Packing Weekend on Friday, 10 December.

A survey will be sent to all corporates and/or groups registered for either program towards the end of November asking you to select your delivery preference. If you select option 2 someone will contact you to arrange a suitable collection time during the week beginning 6 December.
